This is a 6-week program, in St. Anton am Arlberg. The training program will be split into interval blocks 2 – 2 – 2 total 6 weeks training; I believe that a long-term continuous program can be counterproductive. The advantages of this new approach/concept is that you can stay fresh mentally and physically to get the most out of the training. The training will take place on different snow types at different times throughout the winter months to increase your skills and adaptability, and then you are able to practice and consolidate your learning before attending the next period of training. This consolidation period will give you additional benefits of being refreshed, confident and a readiness to progress to the next level. (In my experience when people have over trained it becomes counterproductive physically and mentally, creating exam stress rather than exam confidence.)
I believe that an exclusive group no more than 6 people results in a higher standard of attainment and that my input helps skiers achieve their personal goals faster in a relaxed and open, safe and positive learning environment/experience.
I have chosen ST ANTON AM ARLBERG for this course as there is a good variety of terrain and slopes that will complement the training and will prepare the candidates for their BASI level 3 technical exam. The terrain here will improve your confidence and take you out of your comfort zones so you progress for your exams on the Hintertux Glacier. ST ANTON AM ARLBERG has one of the best ski lift systems in Europe, being linked to St Christoph, Stuben, Lech, Zürs, Warth and Schröcken, so you can ski all day on a variety of challenging slopes of your choice, without having to use the same lift or ski run twice. The ski areas within St Anton, includes challenging runs down from the Schindlergrat and Kar, the runs on Galzig, Gampen or Kapall and on the Valluga or the Rendl. To sum it up, this is a village with impressive alpine background.
I hope to inspire my students by sharing my enthusiasm and enjoyment of being part of the mountain environment. And by passing on my understanding of skiing; take in what you feel while skiing in different and varied terrain– bumps and challenging varied terrain – conditions
To use feeling and understanding to develop a variety of ways for you to be able to create different turn shapes for short, medium or long turns – using pressure to influence the change of direction to steer or carve as you wish to enhance your performance.
Take away new feelings and understandings to be able to make continued self-development to become a stronger skier.
To give you the tools so you can work towards achieving success in the technical part of your instructor exams, but more importantly to impart the enjoyment of becoming a more all-round shaped skier for yourself in the future.
When skiing on the mountain, you can use any situation to your advantage or disadvantage. To use the situation to your advantage, you need to adapt your technique and tactics to your own ability as well as to the conditions and type of snow. This is what makes good and effective skiers, and this is what I want to make you more aware of.
Give the candidates more open understanding of how to use an open mountain environment to ones advantage and play with the terrain.
Dynamic balance fore, aft and laterally
State of awareness in ankles – knee – hips to make appropriate movements to influence steering when needed
Arm position in front of body, appropriate for the change of direction of skis
Axis parallel to each other, to creates appropriate separation to allow pressure control on outside ski
Rhythmical round turns appropriate to the conditions and gradient of slope.
Control of speed and active moments.
Legs/skis crossing under the centre of mass rhythmically and freely.
Rhythmical round turns appropriate to the conditions and gradient of slope.
Skis engaging from start to end of turn to control the build up of pressure to influence the turn shape while creating good support and balance against and on the outside turning ski.
Clean change of edges and transition from turn to turn.
Understand how to control speed through the whole turn and using this to your advantage.
Using the terrain to your advantage and understand how to control speed and using appropriate technical ability.
Understand how one starts and finishes a turn.
Being active throughout the whole turn, adapting to different lines and speeds.
Use ones technical ability and become more confident in variable conditions.
Change direction where and when one wants to in short and long turn shapes.
Make you more aware of how you can use variable conditions to your advantage.

Understanding and feel how you uses the turn shape and where and when to release the turn, short and long.
I have been in the Ski instructor/coaching industry for a number of years and have been through exams in Europe reaching the top level in Austria, Switzerland and United kingdom. I have also been training FIS / European cup skiers for a number of years and I also hold a ÖSV – (Austrian Ski Association) Trainers Licensed. I understand the discipline and work needed to achieve the toughest goals and the structured training it takes to achieve these goals in the racing world or to pass the high standards of a technical instructor exam.
My success in the world of skiing is largely based on the pursuit of excellence, helping skiers, regardless of their level or standard, develop their technical skills by understanding what they really need as opposed to what they think they want. In particular, this includes understanding your personal goals and individual learning styles and focusing on the outcome/success rather than obstacles/difficulties.
