‘Toby is one of the best ski trainers in the business. He is a fantastic skier himself and has the experience and technical knowledge to develop world class performers. Toby offers his students a unique approach that is driven by an unsurprised passion and energy for developing skiers’.

Hi Toby, thanks for a great three days. I enjoyed the camp very much. Needless to say, I really got on with my skiing. My weight is now really shifted forward for the first time – I can jump over bumps and bumps with confidence. I can now go down a mogul slope and keep going for me!!!! I’m getting better at short turns. I’m already thinking about the next one. I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you all for being so patient with me. I know I can do this. Thank you all very much and I look forward to continuing to work with you all. Take care Allie

Toby and Andy are both really excellent instructors/trainers and I have met quite a few! We were a group with mixed experiences, but I think we all took away personal tips and strategies – we all had one-on-one instruction, which is very valuable …. not to mention the excellent video feedback and the relaxed, happy atmosphere on the day. I finally felt my skis carve and saw some nice clean tracks behind me. I came away with a big smile on my face, and that’s the most important thing for me. When you translate that to ‘real’ mountains, I can’t wait to see more of them.”

I booked a three-day Develop Your Skiing course with Toby after seeing him with a group in October 2018. His group made such amazing progress that I signed up for the course when the 2019 dates were released. Toby not only pays attention to your skiing technique. It also deals with the tactical, physical and psychological part of skiing. The whole group I was traveling with made great progress. By the end of the course I was definitely a much better skier. I will be taking another Develop Your Skiing course.

Thank you for a fabulous three days in Manchester. A big thank you to Toby, Andy and Brian who were actively supported by Billy. They helped create a great team spirit and provided a technical contribution to an impressive venue that provided an excellent learning experience and confidence building.

Many thanks to Toby and Andy from DYS for a brilliant bumps course this week at Chill Factore. Finally, aware almost competent! I’m looking forward to taking what I’ve learned to the mountains and playing on real snow.

Just a quick email to say thank you for your guidance over the last few days – it really has been a revelation! There was a lot to digest (which I still do!) and I definitely feel like I made big leaps in my abilities! I know I’ve said it before, but I’ve never had coaching that was anywhere near this good, so it was awesome to just be there and listen and do! Thanks again to you and the team, and please forward my thanks to Andy, Billy and Brian as well.

I feel like I benefited from the 3 days and would recommend the course to anyone who wants to increase their confidence and improve their skills on the mountain. I feel more confident skiing and can do a lot of exercises, which is good for me. This was the first time I’ve ridden moguls and I’m not scared, although I still have a lot of room for improvement. The carrots were a lot of fun, and it was the first time I had ridden such curves. It was a shame that there was another event on Saturday, but I would attend again if I get the chance. Thanks again. Hi Toby, I just wanted to thank you for the help during the development day, it was great…. Must work to complete suicide attempt…. Billy gave me the advice to slow down the exercises, so I will work on that. I wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you next time!

Toby – you took Chrissie, Gaye and me to a ski lesson in Morzine last Friday … you went with us to Les Gets and the surrounding area. We all really enjoyed the session and also learned technically, which is a perfect combination for me. Chrissie and I are talking about going back in three quarters of an hour for a long weekend, and I think that’s because we ended the vacation on a high, and I think that’s probably due to our session with you on Friday morning.

British Army 20 December 2020

Toby has already twice spent four weeks helping to run an annual alpine skiing exercise for around 120 British Army soldiers. His duties were to assist the Chief Instructor (CI), instruct and coach skiers, develop training plans for groups and individuals, and set race courses for training and competition. He also supported the exercise by liaising with the Stubai Valley Glacier management team as needed to ensure we had the right support.

Toby is a kind and personable individual who has been a pleasure to work with over the past 2 years. From our first meeting, it was clear that he had extensive knowledge and experience, which was confirmed by recommendations from other local sources. His communication is positive and considerate, he speaks both English and Austrian and is responsive to the individual needs of each person, but also works well to develop teamwork and discipline. He was responsible for providing training services for beginners to experienced racers and was always professional, courteous and helpful.

Our informant has great respect for Toby. The support he provided in all areas of the informant’s responsibilities allowed for simultaneity of activities and deepening of coaching skills and exercises. When it came to setting courses, he delivered exactly what was asked for and was also able to design relevant and appropriate courses to get the most out of his ski groups. The slalom and giant slalom courses, which were run during the competition phase, were excellent; they were really demanding where necessary and allowed a challenge for the whole spectrum of participating performance levels.

Toby has added real value to so many different elements of our ski training and race practices. We enjoyed his company very much and were able to benefit from his wealth of experience in various areas of the alpine environment. He is a true professional and is so versatile that he has improved the experience of our entire team on the hill.

I really liked the fresh approach to teaching and learning in our day course. We tried out some fantastic exercises and enjoyed the collaborative group learning that was delivered with a down to earth teaching style. Toby makes skiing what it should be: progressive, challenging, but always fun. I will book again!

I just wanted to thank you for the great training week in Pitztal. Her coaching was excellent and I accomplished much more than I expected, especially off the slopes! You helped me develop my basic skills so that you could guide me safely through a number of more challenging conditions. I found the video analysis particularly useful and felt that at the end of the week I had a better idea of how to improve my own skiing in the future. The great snow and beautiful hotel were an added bonus!

I have since taken a few indoor ski and mogul courses at various ski schools. I found that Toby was very attentive and paid great attention to each of us no matter what level we were at in the group. Toby used several ideas to teach us balance that are very effective. I’ve found that most ski instructors are in a hurry to leave after class, and they don’t care how the clients learned or how they feel every step of the day. Toby, on the other hand, asks us questions throughout the day and takes extra time to get us together after class. This gesture allowed us to see the last part of our day on video and get first-hand advice or ask questions. So everything was much easier to understand while the memories were still fresh. If you are looking for a great ski course with a coach who cares about you, I highly recommend Toby.

Thank you for a great day at the Moguls class at Chill Factore in Manchester last week. I really enjoyed it and found it very useful. I found your approach very easy to understand and appreciated being shown how to simplify what is often presented as a complex technique.

The main things I took away were:

keep my legs beautiful and soft
less is more, i.e. I don’t overdo it with stretching and artificial absorption (old school!)
slowing my descent more (by turning my feet a little more).
Skiing in a smaller group definitely helped and the people in the course were all very nice and fun to ski with, without any pressure. Thanks also for the video, which I look back on fondly; all in all, a great day. I look forward to skiing with you again, either indoors in the UK or in the mountains.

Great 3 days in Hintertux. Focused on the core issues, clear in message and delivered with humor! I have the feeling that I have improved significantly. As Arnie said, “I’ll be back!” Ian Copley

I have known Toby since the winter of 2013/2014 when I met him on the training slopes in Kühtai Tyrol together with my daughter Rikke, a member of the Norwegian national ski team. Rikke competes at the European Cup level. Since meeting Toby, my daughter Rikke and I have had the privilege of getting to know Toby as a person and his excellent approach to training on the mountain and his communication skills that we have found inspiring and motivating. Toby has shown us a new, inspiring approach that has helped Rikke progress technically and mentally in her skiing and put her in a very positive direction for her future.

Toby showed excellent principles on the slope in all situations and led very safely. In the short time we have known Toby, he has worked very hard for us. He has very high standards for his work on the slopes, and his punctuality and organizational skills are undeniable.

In the short time that I and my daughter have known Toby, he has consistently shown his love for his work, his love and passion for skiing and helping others develop.

I feel privileged to have met Toby and I want to say that I am confident that wherever Toby goes and whatever he does, he will inspire and motivate others. I would recommend Toby to any skier or organization as a person and as an excellent trainer/coach.
